PDP wins Ife Central State Constituency by-election

Mr. Dipo Eluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party has won Ife Central State Consistency by-election that was conducted to fill the vacant seat in the Osun State House of Assembly.

The by-election which was conducted on Saturday was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission as a result of cancellation of results from two polling units, but a rerun was conducted on Sunday. The final results show that PDP scored  5,504 votes, Accord Party candidate, Olusegun Fanibe came second scoring 4,790 while the candidate of the APC, Tilewa Sijuade came third with 4,587 votes.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat following the death of the Minority Leader, Mr. Oladejo Makinde of the PDP in December, 2015. PDP now retain the two seats it earlier won in the 2015 general elections.
