Olubadan will not be buried secretly
The burial committee set up by Governor Abiola Ajimobi has said that Olubadan will not be buried in secrecy as done for some monarchs in the Southwest.
According to the committee, the burial will hold at the Saint Peters Aremo which the monarch attended till his death and all activities will be done in public.
Oba Odulana joined his ancestors on January 19, 2016 after a ripe age of 101. While speaking with newsmen on the 9-day burial programme at the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan, Alhaji Alli who told all the gathering that the committee had the backing and sponsorship of Governor Ajimobi said the programme will hold between February 5 and 14.
The committee is made up of the head of service, special advisers, permanent secretaries, representatives of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, representatives of the Olubadan-in-Council and members of the royal family and other government officials from the eleven local government areas in the state.
The committee was silent on the litigation over the installation of a new monarch praying proverbially that there would not be crisis in the city over the choice of a new king, adding that all necessary things to ensure peaceful participation of all residents have been done and that God will not allow anyone who may want to foment any trouble in the peaceful city.
The burial commitee is led by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli.
