Olubadan is dead


Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 has passed on at the age of 101 years.

Rexinews confirmed that Oba Odulana passed away yesterday evening in his sleep, at his Monatan residence. His remains have been deposited in an undisclosed morgue. Oba Odulana became the 39th Olubadan of Ibadanland in 2007.

Following recent promotion of some chiefs by Olubadan-in-Council, Chief Saliu Adetunji, who is the Olubadan-in-waiting and the Balogun of Ibadanland will succeed late Oba Odugade. Other chiefs promoted are the Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun; Osi Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of the state.

The late Olubadan was born on April 14, 1914 and in 1964, he became Minister of State for Labour. He joined the royal chieftancy lineage as Mogaji in 1972. He became the Olubadan at the age of 93 in 2007.
